Pre-school Kindergym

(children 18 months to 4 years)
The aim of the pre-school kindergym is to provide the children with a secure environment in which they can gain self-confidence. Through movement exploration, without competition or pressure, we use children’s natural tendencies to run, jump, crawl, roll and climb in an environment which is purposefully designed. The philosophy and goals are to develop each child’s gross motor skills to their fullest, to heighten the child’s self-confidence level and a stronger self-discipline through movement.

During the one hour session the children work under the direction and guidance of the Centre’s gymnastics coach/teacher. Parents play a major role in the supervision of their child’s learning.

Comfortable clothing should be worn, allowing the children to move easily and safely.
Bare feet are recommended for the children.

Classes occur at the following times

Tuesday 1pm to 2pm
Wednesday 11am to 12am

Adult classes

The classes cater for the 18+ age group. The sessions consist of a warm-up, flexibility and strength training, followed by a skills session. The minimum skill requirement is a handstand & cartwheel. In the latter part of the session individual strength training and conditioning circuits can be practiced in the conditioning room, or individual skills practiced in the training gyms. Relaxing in the sauna is recommended and a pleasant way to end the session.

The adult classes take place on a Wednesday evening beginning at 8.30 and finishing at 10pm. The class is for gymnastics training only and is based mainly on improving floor skills.

We appear to be the only Centre in the area that cater for adults, and have therefore had to implement the following procedure.

If you wish to attend the Wednesday evening class:

a. You must be over 18 years of age
b. You must be able to perform a cartwheel and a handstand
c. You must want to improve your gymnastics skills only.
Procedure:
1. Phone the gymnastics centre after 11am on the morning you wish to attend the centre.
2. You will be placed on the list for that Wednesday night only.
3. If the number of applicants exceeds 30 you will be informed that a place is not available that night.
4. If you attend on a night without a phone registration you will only be admitted if the numbers do not exceed 30
5. You cannot take part if you are late and do not complete the whole warm-up.
